Pontoon for launching boats (April-September). 2 kayaks and 1 canoe with 4 adult buoyancy aids (available April-September for use on Somerford Lagoon only). Private parking for 1 car, additional parking available. No smoking. Please note: There are steps from the gated decked area to the garden, pontoon and onto the lake.. This attractive cottage is set on the quieter side of the award-winning Lower Mill Estate, a 450-acre nature reserve boasting a large variety of wildlife and a Site of Special Scientific Interest. Built in Cotswold style, the cottage has a southerly aspect with uninterrupted views across Somerford Lagoon, the largest lake on the estate. The decking provides a wonderful location for al fresco meals from breakfast to dinner. Steps lead down from the gated decking area to a pontoon onto the lake. The River Thames flows 20 yards from the front door and the Thames Path leads to the source of the Thames near the village of Kemble. The village of Somerford Keynes is a short walk away where the local pub offers freshly prepared home cooked food and local cask ales. The surrounding area offers a network of lakeside paths and bridleways to explore hidden countryside on foot or by bike. Many fine traditional pubs, cafés and hotels are found in local Cotswold villages offering delicious homemade food and speciality beverages. The historic town of Cirencester is a short drive away and beautiful towns and villages such as Bath, Stow-on-the-Wold, Bourton-on-the-Water, Broadway and Cheltenham are all within easy access. The Cotswold Water Park offers a host of activities including water skiing, cable skiing, archery, shooting, paintballing, golf, aerial adventure, angling, horse riding, sailing, canoeing and rally driving. KAYAK USE
The Owner provides 2 kayaks, 1 canoe and 4 adult buoyancy aids for use by Guests during their stay at Clearwater Cottage. The boats are only to be used on Somerford Lagoon during the period 1 April to 30 September between sunrise and sunset. The boats are not to be used on any other lake.
The owner has in place third party insurance to £1m for the boats at Clearwater Cottage. If you bring your own boats to use on the lakes you will need to ensure that your boats have third party insurance to a minimum of £1m. It is the responsibility of each individual to ensure their own health and safety when boating on the Estate. No boating alone on the lake as there is no rescue boat cover. There are rescue lines strategically placed around the Estate one of which is at the back of the cottage.
Buoyancy aids must be worn at all times and Guests going afloat do so entirely at their own risk. Please make sure that all children are supervised, wearing buoyancy aids and are competent in the water.
