The space:
Our house is a 100+ year old single family home on a quiet neighborhood block. The home sits at the base of an old coal mining mountain, and you will absolutely enjoy wildlife spotting of all sorts in our backyard! There is also a small pump dam pond across the road from our house that provides scenic views and birdwatching. Take in the gorgeous scenery on our newly renovated wrap around porch!
Our home is 3 bedrooms, 1 full bath, and sleeps up to 6 adults. Like many old coal town houses our single bathroom is on the bottom floor which may not be convenient for anyone who doesn’t want to do stairs. Also, the third bedroom is on the third floor, accessible through a door in the main bedroom. We also have an air mattress in the downstairs closet.
The house is pet and child/baby friendly! We have two large size dog crates and a full sized baby crib that can be set up by request. There are toddler toys/books as well.
Make yourself at home! Share a meal or two in our fully furnished 1950s kitchen, relax and enjoy a movie in the cozy den, and fall asleep in the quiet stillness of the mountains.
Guest access
During your stay, you will have access to the entire house (barring the basement and garage). Any food in the fridge or pantry is free to enjoy. We also provide coffee K-cups for the Keurig coffee machine.
Other things to note:
Our house is in a quiet neighborhood surrounded by families who have been here for hundreds of years, including ours. Please treat the neighborhood as if it was your own so we can continue to host people here. Thank you!
There is an abandoned house across the street sitting against the woods that is in the early stages of demolition, it’s an eyesore, we know.
The pump dam across the side street is privately owned but is still beautiful to look at from our porch.
You may hear dirt bikes and ATVs coming off the mountain from time to time.
