For the romantics: Lovers can enjoy a 100 year old brass bed at over a mile high! Critter Cabin was built in Forest Falls CA in 1924 as a modest hunting cabin. It originally consisted of a main room downstairs with a loft above and an outhouse for your personal business. The wood ceiling area of the current main room indicates the original cabin size. In the 1940’s a kitchen and bathroom were added to enjoy indoor plumbing. The kitchen was remodeled in both 1986 & 2000 and the bath was remodeled in 1986.
Forest Falls is a small community located on San Gorgonio Mountain, the tallest in Southern California at 11,503 feet. So Cal’s tallest waterfall, great hiking trails and awesome scenery make Forest Falls one of the best destinations to enjoy a wilderness experience.
This cabin was purchased in 1980 by Mike & Joan Vasquez. The personal street signs located in the parking area at top of stairs are in memorial to them. Mike was an Architect and designed the upgrades and renovations to improve the cabin. Four generations of our family have enjoyed this mountain retreat and the beauty of Forest Falls. We hope you will enjoy it too!
2 bedrooms upstairs: room with Double bed accessible through room with Queen bed. There is a privacy door between rooms. If snow present check CHP for road conditions and chain requirements. Cabin elevation is over 6,000 ft and highest in the community = most snow in Forest Falls. Chains and 4WD heavily recommended for snowy conditions. Pocket Wifi is 4G Verizon: Internet access good, Netflix set up on main TV but may have streaming issues on occasion. Parking for 2 cars in driveway. No street parking.
