Tucked into the hillside by Lake Hodges, our tiny house is a romantic retreat or a place to unwind surrounded by nature, w/plenty of amenities so you don't have to sacrifice comfort. Lake & mountain views from inside & out-- private, large covered deck, dining patio, outdoor shower (& indoor), beautiful saltwater pool, & fire bowl. Though it feels like you're in a secluded retreat, urban amenities are just a few miles away. SD Zoo Safari Park, wineries, breweries & beaches all w/in easy reach.
The Lakeview tiny house, which we designed and handcrafted ourselves, is the second Airbnb rental unit on our property. We also have the "Hilltop cabin" which we have been renting for a few years now. Situated in an oasis-like setting, a short walk from the lake, the tiny house is perfect for a romantic getaway or a chance to relax, recharge, and commune with nature. The tiny house and the cabin each have their own private, outdoor shower and other outdoor amenities as well as sharing the swimming pool and firebowl. Enjoy stunning panoramic views of the lake, mountains, and canyons from the outdoor shower, explore the extensive cactus and succulent garden, and visit Cinnamon and Frost, our friendly Nigerian dwarf goats.
While the cabin offers a more rustic experience, the tiny house offers many more creature comforts including AC & heating, a well-equipped, full kitchen, 40" HDTV w/streaming services, a washer & dryer, an ensuite bathroom (in addition to the outdoor shower), and an indoor dining area. There's also a sleeping loft with a queen bed and a smaller loft with a folding couch that can be opened to a full-size bed. The tiny house also has a regulation size outdoor ping pong table and a picnic backpack, w/plates, silverware, picnic blanket, wine opener & cheese board all packed & ready for a romantic outing.
Guest access
The tiny house has a large, mostly covered deck in front and a large, fenced-in yard that only tiny house guests have access to. The deck has seating and dining areas, kitchen cabinets & a pass-through to the indoor kitchen, an outdoor sink, & a gas grill. There's also a flagstone patio with a dining table & chairs in the tiny house yard. In the driveway there is a separate entrance to this yard, which is exclusively for tiny house guests, and there's a gate behind the tiny house which provides access to a path up to the swimming pool, fire bowl and cactus garden all of which are shared with us permanent residents & guests staying at the Hilltop cabin.
Other things to note
Massages:
Arrangements can be made for a relaxing, full-body massage by a licensed massage therapist during your stay either on site or just a few minutes' walk from the tiny house. Please let us know ahead of time if you would like to schedule a massage during your visit.
The lake:
A short walk, bike ride, or drive from the property. The trails around the lake are always open for walking and biking. The lake is open for fishing, motor boating, kayaking, sailing, & paddle boarding most Wednesdays, Saturdays, and Sundays depending on the season and the water level. Note the lake is currently closed for water activities due to dam repair until February 2023.
The bathroom:
There is an easy, odor-free, composting toilet. It is a Nature's Head toilet and you can find out all about it by visiting their website.
Tiny house trivia:
The tiny house and most of the furniture and cabinets inside it were entirely designed and hand made by us. It is constructed on top of a 26' x 8' flatbed trailer which means that it is a "tiny house on wheels" or THOW like many of the ones seen on popular tv shows like Tiny House Nation. It has a maximum height of 13.5' from the ground so that it could be towed on the highway without a special permit if we ever wanted to which is not very likely since it is in such a beautiful spot!
