The topography uniquely features seven separate coves that make their way inland through coastal canyon inlets, thus the property moniker has evolved into The Seven Coves.
Its “North Cottage” and “South Cottage” are fully appointed two bedroom structures with gracious living rooms and kitchens, while its “Writer’s Cottage” and “Forest Cottage” offer a unique and cozy rustic one-bedroom experience with more subtle common areas, kitchenettes, and wet bars. The signature architectural element of the cottages consists of the large scaled fireplaces. The six extraordinary hand-crafted fireplaces incorporate dry-stacked moss rock brought in from Montana. They make use of large scale character stones (hearths, lintels, mantles) that invite guests and their brethren to cozy up to the antique seating arrangements scattered throughout.
With its seven en suite bedrooms, the neighboring Lodge is reminiscent of the great Adirondack camps of yesteryear, acting as a central gathering place when all of the separate living quarters of the property are occupied. The Lodge further adds to guest enjoyment with its unforgettable and well curated Library and first class Health Spa and Fitness Facilities. It also features a large scale social gathering room or 'Great Room’ with absolutely stunning views of the North, West, and South coastlines.
Less than one mile from the mysterious beauty of Point Lobos State Park, the property is situated amidst a rare private Cypress forest and the dramatic coastal cliffs and inlets on the border of Carmel Highlands and Big Sur.
All four properties are laden with unique gardens which have been placed delicately and strategically in and among the grounds to take advantage of different micro-climates to promote a variety of flora and fauna...In all, the close observer will note no fewer than eight distinct gardens. Highlands flora species and groundcovers and accentuated with cascading waterfalls and gathering ponds surrounded by ferns and their shadow-happy brethren, intimate footpaths with numerous species of colorful orchids grown and nurtured in the grounds greenhouse, and punctuated by a healthy happy Koi pond with aging plump fish living the life of Riley, all the while suspect that birds of prey or Gray Egrets will soon come to perilously play.
