House of 57 is a beautifully updated mid century modern home is in one of the best neighborhoods in town and just a 10 minute walk to the hottest restaurants and shops in uptown Palm Springs. With over 3,600 square feet of living space, this spacious and sleek 4 bedroom 4 bathroom home was recently renovated to provide next century conveniences yet still retains its mid century charm. At once minimalist and comfortable, this is the quintessential Palm Springs vacation home. When it was built in 1957, Palm Springs was at its height of popularity in the 20th century. Near the site of the original El Mirador Hotel, this home was undoubtedly frequented by a veritable who’s who of Hollywood.
Completely hedged in all the way around, this stylish home offers plenty of privacy. Upon entering the front gate from the street, one is welcomed into a private desert courtyard before entering the front door. The large Living Room offers plenty of seating around the fireplace, and a great view out to the covered patio and swimming pool.
Around the corner is the open Kitchen, Dining Room and Family Room. Here everyone can gather while cooking, watching a movie, making cocktails or serving dinner. It’s the perfect “meet in the morning or evening” common space. The Kitchen has been gorgeously updated, and there’s a huge breakfast bar facilitating interaction for those doing the Kitchen work.
The North end of the house offers two classic original bedrooms, one with private access to the Guest Bathroom, and the other is an ensuite Master bedroom with private bath and direct pool access. Both of these bedrooms enjoy vintage bathrooms that are in beautiful condition with original tile and hardware. The South end of this spacious home offers two new ensuite Master bedrooms, each with its own private modern bathroom with walk-in shower, and direct pool access. All the bedrooms offer flat screen TV’s and comfortable new beds and linens.
Out back is the best part of this vacation home, the brand new sparkling blue saltwater swimming pool and spa. There is plenty of lounge seating around the pool, both under the covered patio and out in the glorious Southern California desert sunshine. From the East side of the pool, you’ll appreciate the view to Mt. San Jacinto, as well as the cozy lava rock fire pit for those chilly desert evenings during the winter.
Ride the FREE trolley service in Palm Springs - hitting 30 stops every 15 minutes from Smoketree Village in South PS to Via Escuela in North PS. It operates from 11 to 1 a.m. Thursday through Sunday. Enjoy Downtown and Uptown Palm Springs restaurants, bars and shopping without having to drive.
