This fully remodeled 2BD/1BA midcentury cottage in Twentynine Palms is a perfect little desert escape for a family or a small group of friends. Situated in a quaint and quiet neighborhood just 3 miles from the North entrance of Joshua Tree National Park, it's the ideal location for your next Joshua Tree adventure.
Welcome to M&L Desert Cottage!
-We are a 6 min drive from the North entrance of Joshua Tree National Park and a 20 min drive to downtown Joshua Tree.
-The interior and exterior of the cottage have been completely renovated. The space, cozy and airy, features midcentury modern and eclectic style and updated appliances.
-The kitchen has everything you will need to prepare meals—a gas oven, microwave, toaster oven, coffee maker, spices, and all necessary cookware. It is fully stocked with plates, glasses, cooking and serving utensils, and coffee and tea essentials.
-The cozy living room features leather seating, including a recliner chair, a 50” 4K smart TV with access to Netflix and high-speed internet access. A record player with a selection of vinyl is available for your enjoyment.
-There are two bedrooms—the main bedroom features a king-sized bed with a memory/spring hybrid foam mattress, and the second bedroom has two twin-sized memory foam beds, one of which is a stackable bed that can be set up with its own mattress for parties of 5. A Pack-n-Play is also available for your little one.
-The bathroom has a tub/shower (extra towels are provided in hallway storage). A hair dryer is conveniently located under the sink. Shampoo, conditioner, and body wash are all provided for you!
-There is lots of seating on the back patio, a midcentury gas Malm fireplace, and a gas grill for outdoor cooking. It’s a great place to enjoy a lovely dinner and to relax under the stars. Don’t forget to enjoy the sunrise/sunset on our extremely comfy twin hammocks!
The house and property are all yours to enjoy. There is a washer and dryer in the kitchen. The driveway will easily accommodate three vehicles.
Unless previously discussed, check-in is at 4pm. We will not be at the house when you arrive, but instructions for our digital locks will be provided. We are always available by phone to answer your questions. Feel free to call or text!
The living room features a 35K BTU mini split A/C system for those hot and humid days that provides heating as well. This system is limited to the living room and kitchen. The cooling system in the main part of the house is Evaporative, sometimes called “swamp cooler.” We will provide detailed instructions on how to operate it upon booking. Each bedroom has an electric heating panel on the wall for those chilly nights. Also, for those hot summer days, each bedroom has a ceiling fan. For your enjoyment, we have a guest guide with recommendations for things to do and places to eat in the Joshua Tree area.
House Rules:
-Please remove your shoes. We encourage indoor house slippers or sandals. Your cooperation is much appreciated!
-The house is professionally cleaned prior to each guest’s arrival. When you leave, do your best to leave the property in the same condition as when you arrived (minus normal usage of course).
-The property uses a Septic System for waste removal. Please do not discard ANYTHING in the sinks (i.e. no food waste down kitchen sink) or toilet (other than the provided toilet paper). Following this policy will help avoid problems with the plumbing.
-Please be considerate of our neighbors—keep noise down after 10pm, especially if you are enjoying the outdoor space.
-The space is limited to 5 people and sorry, but no pets. We have this in place instead of an additional guest charge in an attempt to keep costs down for you. Kids under 2, that still fit in your travel crib, are welcome! (We provide a Pack-n-Play and high-chair for your convenience; they can be found inside the second bedroom closet.)
-Turn off gas on grill and fireplace after every use.
-Being a family home, we also have a no smoking policy (although you are welcome to smoke either out front or back).
Before you leave:
-We kindly ask that you clean any dishes or kitchenware used and put dirty towels on top of the washer.
-Please clean the gas grill after use with the cleaning supplies provided.
-Please bring hammocks to designated spot after use.
-Turn off all lights and electrical devices before you leave.
-Close and lock all doors, windows, and gates.
