The first thing you experience when entering the Cottage, is distant islands and the deep blue ocean stretching to infinity in all directions. A quick change to your favorite Hawaiian shirt and you are sitting on the beach in an Adirondack chair…you notice there is almost no one on the beach, and the only noise is the surf and your kids having the time of their lives, “perfect”. Well almost perfect . . . perfect is Fiji, 10 hours and $10,000 away, but this will work!
“On the Sand” is a classic California beach house that has been professionally updated, mixing its original beach charm with modern comforts. The original lighthouse mural remains and the typical beach-area small bedrooms and bathrooms were given a surprisingly elegant feel, with distinctive beach styling and upscale bedding.
Your time at the Cottage will be spent on the beach and in the Beach Room. The Beach Room, the largest we know of, offers beach and fireplace lounges, sit down dining for 10 and our favorite…the Light House bar and cold kitchen for your morning coffee, beach side lunch, snacks and beverages. For the chef in your family and sunset dinners there is a second “hot” kitchen. The beach deck has a bar facing the ocean that we bet will become your sunset cocktail spot.
If you care to venture away from your beach house, you have a marina at your back door with restaurants, sport fishing and boat rentals. Santa Barbara is less than an hour away and the wine country just a bit further. One final warning . . . your departure day will arrive quicker than you would like, so savor every minute doing everything or doing nothing!
