FACILITIES: shared heated pool (in summer - ask us to illuminate it for an atmospheric night-time swim), pool towels on request (choice: towelling or Turkish pestemal), borrow bathrobes/ flip flops/inflatable toys/loungers for kids, and if you forget your swimming costume we keep a selection in different sizes for you to borrow; sauna: scented oils and lighting options, outdoor cold shower for the complete experience!; private (may be shared with owners but we liaise with you re times) hot tub: plastic wine glasses should you wish to indulge; tennis court (great for children to play or dogs to be let off-lead); netball post; boules; croquet; table tennis; pool table; crazy golf area. Lots of outdoor seating options outside your door: sun loungers, bean bags (often used by our guests whilst star-gazing in the unpolluted night sky, stargazing guide, chimenea and cosy blankets provided for chilly nights), outdoor sofa, chairs, horseshoe bench, patio table and chairs; numerous other seating areas in grounds including walled garden ideal for an evening glass of wine, al fresco meal, or afternoon tea; hammock for reading one of the numerous books available; sculpted tree trunks where you can sit and watch our rescued chickens and their antics; summerhouse/patio area; bench hidden up a hill; seats in secret stumpery area; stools around fire pit for toasting marshmallows...
CHILDREN: no children under 6 other than babies - sorry, we love children but for those crawling or toddling there are too many hazards. Cot/put-u-up single bed; privacy screens/stairgate(s). Books/games/unbreakable crockery/baby monitor. Children MUST be supervised in the stable and grounds due to the hazards in the environment.
DOGS: We're not just dog-friendly, we go above that! Dogs welcome by prior arrangement, but MUST be kept on lead outside due to surrounding livestock/dog/cats/chickens. Available: dog bed/crate/outdoor dog pen/mini agility course/dog bowls/dog towels/poo bags/ doggie deodoriser/stairgate. Dog-walker's heaven! Secure field 6 miles away.
COVID-COMPLIANCE: taken very seriously. Anti-viral fogger used; spray/sanitiser provided for your own use; rotation of stock. for your peace of mind we have a rigorous cleaning procedure using full PPE and industrial and hospital-grade anti-viral products, plus rotation of bedding etc between bookings, and although I am a trained nurse with a good understanding of cleaning practices, I have trained in infection control and prevention of Covid-19 (certificates available) to ensure we are adhering to best practice. I sanitise high-touch surfaces, wear protective gear to help prevent cross-contamination, clean rooms using extensive cleaning checklists, provide extra cleaning supplies so you can clean as you stay, including anti-viral spray and hand sanitisers.
AND THE REST: Quality oak joinery features throughout including oak bedroom floor, as do original beams. Visit our quirky village phone box library in our lane! Bathroom with loo and shower (copper piping taps made specially for us); toiletries (shampoo/soap/shower gel/hand-cream); always a new loo roll, no just turning up the end of a roll into a point! Well-equipped kitchen including: fridge freezer; microwave; oven; hob; cafetiere; coffee maker; slow-cooker; cast iron frying pan, quality Le Creuset saucepans, plenty of crockery and utensils from egg poaching pod to cookie cutter, napkins, tablecloth/vintage crockery for afternoon tea, starter staples, balsamic, olive oil, and washing up liquid; large dining table seats 6: perfect work space if you need it. Ironing board, iron, (NB no washer/dryer), hairdryer. Fire extinguisher, fire blanket; smoke and carbon monoxide alarms. Even a spider catcher for the squeamish (remember you’re in the countryside!) Bed linen provided (crisp cotton, relaxed linen or silky satin). Slate tiles for easy cleaning after muddy paws (canine and human alike). Underfloor heating. Neighbours likely to be badgers, deer, pheasants, foxes, horses, rabbits or squirrels - and occasional visits from our pets. If you don't like dogs or cats it's not for you! Bi-fold glass doors from the kitchen out to your private area, not overlooked by owners. Extensive landscaped gardens and Somerset Wildlife Trust designated wildlife areas contain numerous features eg willow walkway, stumpery, pond, orchard, walled garden, and luxury attractions - please note use of amenities by prior arrangement and subject to family use - we will liaise re times: heated pool (note - closed in autumn/winter; open at other times according to the weather and other variables - and please note our house overlooks the pool and the front of your stable); hot tub (on permanently and all year round; not overlooked by anyone); sauna (small additional cost per session to cover electricity).
