New Romney, Hythe, and Rye are all within 14 miles, offering history, shops, galleries and an array of places to eat and drink. Folkestone just 9 miles away offers a high-speed train to London. It also has the Harbour Arm, built from the former ferry railway station with a re-imagined public pier – a very popular place for food, drink and entertainment. A must-do during a summertime stay is a trip on the Romney Hythe & Dymchurch Miniature Steam Railway, which passes the end of the garden – it’s a great way to see the delightful Kent countryside, and the station is less than 0.5 miles from your front door. Visit Dungeness, 10 miles, with its RSPB nature reserve and the renowned Derek Jarman’s House and Garden, or go on safari at Port Lympe, 6 miles.
