The university town of Lancaster, is 17 miles, with its aqueduct and castle. Preston, 10 miles away, has many shops and a mainline train station for London and Glasgow.
For those who enjoy the seaside, the Fylde Coast, with popular resorts including Blackpool with its beach, piers, pleasure beach and famous tower, and Lytham St Annes, is just 25 miles away. The Lake District can be reached in under an hour and the Yorkshire Dales in about one and a half hours, making this the ideal touring base.
