The popular historic houses of Chatsworth and Haddon Hall are just the other side of Bakewell.
Walkers have a huge choice of Derbyshire Dales and moorlands to choose from and cyclists have many trails, including the Tissington trail which passes just outside the village and where bicycles may be hired.
